Comments by s''rii t'ippan'akaacaarya:
In this chapter, Kr's'n'a continues to explain his supreme nature to Arjuna. He points out that he is beginningless, and that even the gods and sages don't understand him completely, because he is the origin of them as well. Then he says that one who really understands him is undoubtedly united with him. He also says that he gives the intellectual union to those, who joyfully adore him. This indicates that there is no contradiction between intellectual union and joyful adoration, so a vaishnava, who practises bhakti-yoga, doesn't have to fear knowledge. Actually, the ignorance of those, who joyfully adore Kr's'n'a, is destroyed by Kr's'n'a's shining lamp of knowledge out of his compassion. After hearing that, Arjuna starts to praise Kr's'n'a, and he also mentions that other sages have already declared Kr's'n'a to be the perpetual divine person and the uncreated omnipresent god. Arjuna wants to hear a detailed explanation about Kr's'n'a's manifestations, but Kr's'n'a only agrees to give a summary explanation, because there is no end to his divine qualities. His explanations are indications that he is the foremost, or the original, of everything. Kr's'n'a gives a few examples of his supreme qualities, but he also points out that there is really no end to them. Kr's'n'a points out that he produces every existence from a part of his brilliance. Actually, the word which has been translated as 'produce' can also mean procreation through sex. The fact that Kr's'n'a uses such a word also indicates that he doesn't see sex as something ugly or irreligious. Only a part of Kr's'n'a's brilliance is all that is necessary to produce every powerful existence.
